Short Bio

Jasmine Wilson (she/her) is a versatile voice artist, educator and producer based in New York City. A passionate storyteller, she combines western classical music with free improvisation. Jasmine is a member of the Dream Unfinished Activist Orchestra, singing in concerts for Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the DiMenna Center for Classical Music. She is half of the musical duo, Chez Cherie, where she performs radically improvised compositions with pianist Joey Chang. Jasmine also performs across New York City at venues including Roulette Intermedium, the Jazz Gallery, Seeds and Spectrum. As an educator, she connects her students to their authentic voice and develops self confidence. Jasmine has guest lectured at Harvard University, led workshops at Columbia University, and taught across France, Canada, and New York City. An experienced broadcast and digital producer, she currently creates "media with impact" at The WNET Group, America’s flagship PBS station. Jasmine graduated from McGill University.

Jasmine and Joey in Italia: Songs and Improvisations of Rossini, Handel, Mozart 

The Jasmine Wilson and Joey Chang (Chez Cherie) in February 2021 presented Italian-inspired songs and free (jazz/R&B) improvisations. Our spontaneity-loving and improvisation-based duo takes a spin through some of opera's classic arias by Mozart and Handel, a song cycle by Rossini, and all glued together by some of our own extemporaneous musical commentaries.
